Yizkor or memorial books are some of the last remaining resources we have to learn about the lost families and towns of Jewish life in Eastern Europe. These books were usually published by groups of former residents as a tribute to their friend and families murdered in the Holocaust. Most of the books are written in Hebrew and Yiddish, sometimes with a few chapters in English.
JewishGen, the premier home of Jewish genealogy on the internet, has pioneered the Yizkor Book Project. This is a volunteer group dedicated to helping people translate and publish the contents of these yizkor books to make the information more accessible.
The Dzialoszyce yizkor book was published in Tel Aviv in 1973 by a group of survivors. Mr. Moshe Roznek, a relative of Rose Javinsky's family by marriage, graciously gave his consent for the translation of this book.

There you will find information on the history of Dzialoszyce from the English section of the book. The necrology, or list of names of those who perished, has also been translated and published. We have also been able to translate the captions belonging to the many photos in the book, as well as a chapter originally written in Yiddish called Dzialoshitz Jews: How I Remember Them (by Yosef Harif).
